What qualifications do your Staff hold?
Each team is made up of Nursery Officers with a level 3 qualification in Childcare & Education and Nursery Assistants who have a level 2 qualification and are training towards level 3.
Each room is lead by a Team Supervisor who is an experienced member of staff with a level 3 qualification in Childcare & Education, who also holds a level 2 in team supervision.
What ratios do you operate?

As recommended by National Day Care Standards, Corner House Nursery maintains a high ratio of staff to children.
• 6 months to 2 years old – 1 adult to 3 children
• 2 years to 3 years old – 1 adult to 4 children
• 3 years to 5 years old – 1 adult to 8 children
It is our policy to employ extra staff who will cover for illness/holidays and over staff lunch and break times. Therefore, the adult to child ratio is often higher than those stated above.
Do you operate a key worker system?
Yes we do – a key worker will be assigned when your child starts nursery. They will be responsible for working with you and updating you on their day to day activities as well as informing you of their personal development.
How far in advance do I have to book to ensure my child has a place?
As a popular nursery we do tend to have a waiting list. If you are unable to be flexible on days/sessions then you might find that you may have to wait for the days/ sessions of your choice. Going back to work might seem a long way off whilst you're still pregnant but you would be surprised at how many people do start looking at this time!
Are all your staff CRB checked?

Yes, all members of staff employed by Corner House Nursery have been CRB checked. Please see our section on 'how we choose the best staff'
What happens if my child is ill or has an accident at nursery?
If your child becomes ill at Nursery his/her condition is brought to the attention of a Team Leader or management.. Based upon their symptoms, including any visible signs and your child's body temperature, a decision will be made as to whether you are immediately informed or if staff should continue monitoring your child. If your child's condition continues to deteriorate you will be contacted immediately and asked to collect him/her.
We recognize that it can be frustrating when a child is excluded due to illness but it is important to bear in mind that the exclusion is for the benefit of all children in the nursery. Corner House Nursery  adheres to the Department of Health guidelines regarding incubation periods and exclusions.
More details of this will be covered at your initial meeting.
I only work mornings is it ok to put my child in nursery for just a morning session?
Yes, this is fine, you can pick and choose the sessions you want as long as there is availability. See opening time and sessions for session times.
What discounts do you offer?
We give 5% discount for 2 or more siblings attending for 20 hours or more per week. Please ask a manager for details.

Do I have to pay for bank holidays?

The nursery will close for statutory bank holidays, the cost of which will appear on your bill, however children who normally attend on these days will receive a credit voucher to use on another day. The nursery will be closed for one week over Christmas and New year. This period will be free of charge.
Do I still have to pay if we're on holiday?
You do still have to pay while on holiday to keep your child's place at nursery.
What is the availability for the nurseries?
It's always best to phone the nurseries directly to get the most up to date availability as things change quickly!
Is it too early to book a place for my baby?
It's never too early to book your childcare so the earlier the better! it also gives you peace of mind that things are organised for you when you have to finally go back to work.
Can parents get involved with nursery events?
Corner House Nursery has a long established and active Parents Association which is open to all parents and careers. We hope you will get involved with and join in the fun. We also hold regular parents evenings where you can come and speak to you child's key worker and other members of staff.
Will my child be able to sleep during the day?

Many children, particularly under the age of 3 years, will require a sleep time during the day. We provide sleeping facilities for children, who are offered a rest period during the day, usually after lunchtime. Young babies will follow their own home routine for sleep times as discussed with the child's parents. If a child does not want to sleep they will be provided with other restful activities.
