We promise to do the best that we can to ensure that both children and their parents get all the help and support needed.

The minute I came to look around I was happy to leave my child with you. Your staff are all fantastic and are a credit to the nursery.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Children who have special needs will get special help at Corner House Nursery.
Children deserve to have a happy childhood, but life can be difficult for those who struggle with a serious illness or disability. We promise to do the best that we can to ensure that both children and their parents get all the help and  support needed.

The nursery is situated mainly on the ground floor and there is wheelchair access to most areas. The nursery has a Special Educational Needs coordinator (SENco) who has training and experience; her role is to work with parents to ensure that the nursery is able to provide the best care and to meet the child's needs. Our SENco will also attend review meetings and support parent through the SEN referral and statement process when required. Some children may need special equipment or one to one care which is costly to provide. In this case we will look for organisations who may be able to provide funding to assist the child to attend nursery.

Our staff will also work with other health care professionals and take extra training when necessary to gain the skills to help them to care for each child. This may mean learning 'Macaton' to assist children who are Deaf or have learning difficulties. It may be training in administration of medication or the use of special equipment.

We want every child to play, learn and achieve; but most of all we want them to enjoy, friendship, fun and a happy childhood.
